Why Hire a Van When You Don’t Have to?

If you need to make use of storage, the chances are that your time is short. If you’re moving house then you will have people to call and paperwork to sign… none of which leaves you with huge of amounts of time to devote to the process of moving your things into storage. On the other hand, if you’re looking to make use of storage for business purposes then making efficient use of your time is still absolutely crucial. In both situations, you’ll also be looking to secure the best possible arrangement from a financial perspective too.

Hiring a van  –  the stressful option

So, whether it’s for personal storage or business storage, why would you use a traditional storage service that relies on you having to hire a van? Let’s just lay out the chain of events that you’ll have to go through if you decide to hire a van to transport your items to and from a storage facility.

  • You have to get to the van depot in the first place. If you have a car then you incur the cost of the petrol used in getting yourself there. If you don’t have a car or don’t want to leave it at the depot then you either have to secure a lift from somebody – leaving you at the mercy of their schedule – or you have to use public transport or take a taxi. You’re spending money and potentially wasting time before you’ve even hired the van.
  • Having reached the depot, you now have to hire the van itself. This, of course, costs money. That’s before you’ve even factored in the insurance that you’ve had to take out to leave you covered for driving the van and for any risk of theft or damage to the vehicle.
  • Having finally made it into the van, now you have to drive it to your home or business to pick up the items that you want to put into storage. With petrol in the UK currently costing an average of 130p a litre, unnecessary journeys are a cost that neither businesses nor individuals can justify.
  • You have to load the items into the van.
  • You have to drive the items to the storage centre.
  • You have to unload the items from the van at the storage centre, probably onto a trolley that you’ll have to push to your allocated unit. You then have to take the items off the trolley and put them into the unit.
  • You have to return the van to the hire depot. You then have to get yourself back to your home or business via the same method as you initially used to get to the van hire depot.

Sounds like a lot of hassle, doesn’t it? That’s because it IS a lot of hassle. If only there was an easier way…

Flexistore mobile storage – cheaper, faster, greener

Thankfully, Flexistore’s mobile storage provides that easier way! What does it involve? Well, it couldn’t be simpler.

  • Arrange a time for us to deliver a wooden storage vault to your door in one of our trailers. We leave the vault in the trailer for you to fill up with your items. You lock the vault and we come back and collect it and the trailer.
  • We unload your vault into our storage facility. It’s free for you to visit your vault while it’s in our storage.
  • When you no longer require storage for your items, we’ll deliver the vault back to you in a trailer. Empty the vault of your items and then we’ll come back and collect it and the trailer. Easy!

Our way of doing things saves you time and hassle. It also saves the environment from the carbon footprint caused by unnecessary journeys to and from the van hire centre. We have storage facilities across the UK, so please fill out our enquiry form or contact us to arrange to use or mobile storage service or simply for more information on it. We’re ready to make your life easier.
